Jorgen Tesman, Scholar. At thirty-two years of age, Jorgen is living what many would consider to be an ideal life. Recently returned from his honeymoon with his beautiful wife Hedda, Jorgen is applying himself fully to the task of completing a book discussing domestic crafts in Brabant in the Middle Ages. Always the industrious researcher, Jorgen took advantage of the opportunity afforded by the three month honeymoon tour of Europe to collect a fair amount of material for his book and to complete a good deal of reading in ancient libraries. During his self-described "research tour," Jorgen was in fact awarded his doctorate. He hopes to soon be appointed a professorship in his hometown, so that he can devote his life to the study of human civilization.
Jorgen's romantic life includes a brief period of time spent with Mrs. Elvsted back when she was known more favorably as Ms. Rysing. He is good friends with Judge Brack, and entertains a friendly rivalry with fellow scholar and reformed alcoholic Ejlert Lovborg. Jorgen was raised by his aunts Juliane and Rina, and is served by long time family maid Berte.
