 The Vinegar Tree

"The Vinegar Tree" is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.

This elegant American comedy opens with Augustus Merrick asleep on the terrace of his country house. Enter painter and roue Max Lawrence, soon joined by his would-be lover, the thrice married Winifred, younger sister of Augustus's wife, Laura. The party of six is completed when Laura arrives with the Merricks' forlorn daughter Leone, home from college, with a confused young suitor, Geoffry, in pursuit. Over the course of one day romances entangle, identities are mistaken, and secrets are unfurled. Osborn's finesse and glittering dialogue have led him to be compared favorably to Shaw and Coward. Join us to laugh at our foibles, even as this skilled playwright winningly skewers them.

Please Note: masking in all indoor settings, with the exception of instructional spaces, will be voluntary effective Monday, October 3, 2022.

This change to the Institute's campus masking requirements, as first outlined in a September 1 community message, aligns with local public health directives and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It also responds to improving trends in COVID-19 case activity on campus and in the local community.
