I enjoy traveling and exploring different cultures around the world; below are some of the highlights of my travels.

South Pole

My research took me to the South Pole for a few months every year during grad school. I was part of the CMBand, a musical band consisting of scientists, engineers, and a machinist. We ran the ‘race around the world’ and half marathons at both the South Pole and McMurdo Station.

Nepal

I did a 16-day trekking trip in Nepal with Joan. We hiked to Everest Base Camp through several high passes and glaciers. I saw the most amazing night sky I have ever seen in my life, with Mt. Everest in the background.

Mt. Kilimanjaro

I traveled to Tanzania after graduate school — climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, went on safari in Serengeti National Park, and scuba dived in Zanzibar.

High Sierra

Locally we are surrounded by many wonderful mountains, I led multiple camping/backpacking trips in the High Sierra.
