A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller
Directed by John Davidson
Pulitzer-winning playwright Arthur Miller illumines the exalted notion that classic tragedy and the modern, common man can coexist. In A View from the Bridge Eddie is a self-imploding Brooklyn longshoreman, a combustible presence in an uneasy menage with his wife Beatrice, who he loves too little, and his 17-year-old niece Catherine, who he possessively adores. What has remained unspoken among the three becomes destructively obvious after the arrival of Beatrice's Sicilian nephews, illegal immigrants. Narrated by the lawyer/Greek chorus Alfieri, this slow burning cauldron of family love and hate inevitably bursts into white-hot flame.
