late 16 SNb, focal plane 2

This image clearly shows the difference in morphology between the late 16 and early 17 SNbs. The SNb looks like a growth cone and ends at the 6/13 junction, and it has not yet extended its final branch to 12/13. The 6/7 synapse (adjacent to the left end of the line indicating muscle 14) is still short. Note also the expression of FasII at the 12/13 cleft. This expression is transient and characteristic of a particular short period during mid-late stage 16; it would be stronger a little earlier in development.
