early 17 CNS

This is a detail of a portion of the abdominal CNS of an early 17 embryo stained with 1D4. Note that the outer bundle is quite continuous and stains unformly. This uniform staining is a late event and can be used to stage embryos (compare to late 16 CNS). Note also the very weak staining in the posterior commissure.
