He had to fuel it up and sometimes prop the propeller. He lost a part of his ear. He also had his leg broken by an airplane. He passed on this past April. He was buried at Indian Town Gap in Pennsylvania with full military honors.

He took my sister and I on a trip to see the Hornet in 1998, (we are from Pennsylvania, so it was a great pleasure to see San Fransisco for the first time). That trip was one of the most memorable I ever had. His reflections of the Hornet were so fond. He is interested in talking with others who were on at the same time as he was.
