My best friend
Mary taught me how to sew in summer 1993.
I liked it so much, I asked for a sewing machine as an early Christmas gift.
Mary's a maniac quilter so, under her kind and expert guidance, I naturally
became a maniac quilter too, making my first four quilts during the month
of December; I wanted to show my folks that the sewing machine would not be
a wasted gift!
-
This is the first quilt I
ever made. (Do I look proud?!) It's the largest quilt I've ever made
(100"x100") and was a Christmas gift for a friend of mine in 1993.
- This is the "scrap" quilt
I made after the first one. It's 90"x90". It was my Dad's
Christmas gift in 1993.
- You guessed it! Mom's
present -- a quilted Christmas
tree skirt. We have the most well-dressed trees in town!
- My sister Carol's
present -- another quilted tree
skirt. She told she didn't want one, but later admitted to secretly
hoping I'd make her one anyway. Good thing I can read minds!
- Another "scrap" quilt from the
first two. I figured I deserved at least one of my own creations! It's for
a very big lap; in fact I use it as my summer bed quilt.
In case you're thinking that all my quilts look the same, I have
made others in different colors, I just don't have photos of them.
Maybe some day...
