I agree with Wang Zheng that this communication should not REPRESENT
any individual's personal opinions. (Clearly Wang Zheng's opinion is
different from Wang Qing's. I don't know why he didn't realize it.)
Alumni communication certainly can have a place to discuss personal
views, such as psychological, political, scientific, etc., as long
as it is personal and from alumni, to alumni and related to alumni.
Otherwise I can't imagine how this Alumni communication will serve all
alumni. Lin Wenbin's message, as I see it, is strictly personal
piece of information and personal views. One may or may not agree on it;
it's not anonymous; editor didn't endorse it by adding introductions
(was not against it either, that's how they maintained their neutrality.)
This Alumni communication did not REPRESENT any personal political
views. It only PRESENTED some personal political views. If this is
not acceptable, I don't know what is acceptable.
Finally, we don't presume neutrality even though we try to stay neutral
most of the time. If there is concensus, editors really can put their
concerns and opinions into their editorial and whatever claimed article.
Usually they don't need to go to that stage. No matter what, this has
nothing to do with alumni EXPRESSing their personal opinions, political
or not political. If alumni can't EXPRESS their personal opinions in
the Alumni communication, what is it for? Partying all the time? I
don't think so. And I have the right to EXPRESS it, as an alumnum.
