1. Faculty Position in University of Maryland
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleague:

The Department of Physics at the University of Maryland plans to
appoint a tenure-track assistant professor in the general area of
theoretical nuclear/QCD physics. The appointment is scheduled to
begin for the 1996-1997 academic year.

We wish to conduct a broad search. We are particularly interested in
theoretical physicists working at the borderline of nuclear and
particle physics. The ideal candidate will be a specialist either in
phenomenology related to QCD or in QCD itself. We view the definition
of phenomenology related to QCD expansively, and we will seriously
consider candidates working on a wide range of problems in this
general area. For exceptional applicants, an apointment will be
considered outside this area or at a higher rank.

The successful applicant is expected to join the Theoretical Quarks,
Hadrons and Nuclei Group. Presently the TQHN Group consists of
Professors Manoj K. Banerjee, Thomas D. Cohen, James J. Griffin and
Stephen J. Wallace. We typically have several postdocs and graduate
students in the Group. A person appointed in this area is also likely
to have a significant overlap with the Elementary Particles Physics
Group.

Applications including curriculum vitae and a statement of research
interests should be sent to: Assistant Professor Search, Department of
Physics, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742-4111. For
fullest consideration, applications should be received by {\bf
February 15, 1996}. Please note that the application deadline is in
the not-too-distant future.

If you know of a suitable candidate for this position please encourage
him or her to apply.

Sincerely,

Thomas D. Cohen
Associate Professor, and
Chair of Search Committee

I am looking for a postdoc to work on materials modeling:
(Could you distribute it through ocpa network? Thanks.)

Grain growth modeling, mesoscale modeling and
atomistic modeling. The position is for
1 year, usually extended for the second year and
possibibly the third year too. Salary ~ 40K. Immediate opening.
A U. S. citizen is preferred but not necessary. Some work on
