[CND, 11/11/95] ZHANG Wenxuan, a 14-year-old genius, is the youngest of 43
students admitted this year into a science program for prodigies at Hefei's
renowned University of Science and Technology of China in eastern Anhui
province, Reuter reported Wednesday. The program was set up 1978 after the
end of the Cultural Revolution; since then, 673 young people have graduated
from its five-year program. The university's youngest student entered at
age 11. Humility is encouraged; "a genius also has to work hard," ZHANG
said. He has not chosen a career yet, but wants to study abroad later on.
