2. It Feels like Spring: Brief Report on the Oct.21 Metting....
---------------------------------------------------------------
>From: USTC Alumni Association in Chicago Area
October 21, 1995, it was a rainly day. But inside the meeting
room of Herman Hall at IIT, it feels like spring again. Nearly
30 fellow USTC alumni and their friends made to the scheduled
meeting.
Among those who attended the meeting, we would like to offer our
warm welcome to three new students to Chicago area, they are:
Sun, Tao (8510,8516), University of Chicago MBA program;
You, Liyu (876), Illinois Insitute of Technology;
Yan, Hong (9114), Northwestern University.
At the meeting, 3 senior alumni gave lively brief talks to share
their experiences of working and living in USA. In specific,
Liu Dongzi(8500,854) talked about survival skills in academics,
especially helpful for young students who just started their
career; Wang Qing(771) shared his stories on working in the
corporate world; Liu Keya(813,8112) gave an impressive presentation
on the perspectives of a MBA career.
We also held elections for the leadership of our alumni association.
In their campaign speeches, both Yu Haibo(843,8416) and Dai Hui(876)
expressed their willingness to serve our alumni community, to
excercise their leadership to bring our alumni association to
greater success. They were elected as President and Vice President
for Public Relations at the meeting.
Our special hornored guest, Professor Chu Xuelin, Assistant Dean
of USTC Business School, gave an extensive report on the current
status of USTC and its newly founded business school. It was fresh
for most of the alumni who had't heard such report in years.
After the meeting, close to 20 alumni and their friends had dinner
with Professor Chu in Chinatown. It was a warm and memorable event.
