As stated in the bylaw of USTCAF (under draft), the fund will be
used to award scholarship to excellent students and outstanding
professors at USTC. It will also serve as bridge for joint researches
between USTC faculty and USTC alumni.

3. Brief Report about Boat Tour and Dinner on July 29 ...............
---------------------------------------------------------------------
>From: USTC Alumni Association in Chicago Area
On July 29, 1995, a group of USTC alumni in Chicago area had an
one and a half hour boat tour around the Chicago loop and on the
Lake Michigan. Despite the humid weather, everyone had a good time
on the lake. In particular, the lock gate seperating Chicago river
and Lake Michigan had attracted lots of attention. The captain of
the boat even went off the usual route and led us outside wave
containment dam for an exciting ride. It was the first time for most
of us to see the dazzling Chicago downtown from the lake.
Later more people joined us for the dinner in Chinatown. This small
gathering also served as a farewell party for Dr. Li, Wenshuo (844)
who will pursue his MBA at Cornell University next semester.
The following alumni also participated this event:
Chang Xiaoyan (844) and Rao Fangyi (854)
Dai Hui (876)
Liu Dongzi (854)
Liu Keya (8112) and friend
Tan Yejun (868)
Wang Xin (8814)
Wu Xiaozhong (802) and sister and friend
Yu Haibo (843) and girlfriend
Zhu Hui (817) and husband
USTC alumni association will sponsor such samll scale activity
frequently in the future.
