I would like to share an astonishing news with you, in the most recent
ranking of winners for the National Prize for Natural Science Research,
USTC was sharing the No. 6 position with the Beijing University of Science
and Technology (if you count other schools sharing the same positions, USTC
was only No.9). USTC was ranked No.20 in the category of National Prize for
Invention. And Sadly enough, USTC didn't even make into any other lists.
USTC is declining -- It would not be long that people think the USTC on
your resume only represents "United States Training Camp" if we don't do
anything.
Tell you, as one of USTC graduates, I feel ashamed! You might argue that
it is not our fault, what's going to happen got to happen. I simply don't
believe that. We can not just sit there and watch USTC dying. Let's get
united to rally behind USTC. If each of us work for the same goal -- to
bring the glory back to the USTC, together, we will make a difference.
A number of USTC alumni have made the first step -- join the USTC Alumni
Foundation. You may have read our first campaign letter, since then, in just
short 10 days, we have already collected over $1,200.
Please join us, donate whatever you could, even just a good idea -- as
a small token to show that you care and you want to join the efforts to
make USTC great again!
USTC alumni, let's stand out and get united together. We have great
spirit, we shall never let it die!
Thanks for your attention.
