Textbook

We will be following James Stewart's Calculus, Early Transcendentals eighth edition, covering approximately Chapters 7, 9, 10, and 11, as well as parts of Chapters 8 and 12.

Course Description

This course is a continuation of the material covered in 21-120. It serves as an introduction to integration techniques, ordinary differential equations, and sequences and series. Topics covered include integration by trigonometric substitution and partial fractions; arc length; improper integrals; Simpson's Rule and the Trapezoidal Rule for numerical integration; separable differential equations, Newton's method, Euler's method, Taylor's Theorem including a discussion of the remainder, sequences, series, power series. Parametric curves, polar coordinates, vectors, and the dot product.

Grading

There will be weekly homework assignments, weekly quizzes, two midterm exams, and a final exam. Homeworks will be submitted via Gradescope, and the quizzes, midterms, and final exam will be administered as timed assignments via Gradescope.

The lowest homework score and quiz score are dropped.

Assignments are weighted as follows in the final grade computation:

Homework (30%)
Quizzes (10%)
Midterm 1 (15%)
Midterm 2 (15%)
Final (30%)

Letter grade cutoffs will be determined at the end of the semester, but will not be more harsh than the standard cutoffs of 90% - 100% = A, 80% - 89.9% = B, etc.
