The ranking of the major footwear makers in Brazil breaks down as fol lows:

Sao Paulo Alpargatas owns the Rainha, Topper and Mizuno brands in Brazil. Calcados Azaleia owns Olympikus. Nearly 60 new Rainha products will be launched this year, while Olympikus will launch 50. Olympikus plans to invest over R$5mil in marketing this year. Rainha plans to invest R$8mil in marketing in 1998, while Topper and Mizuno will invest together R$14mil. In 1997, 80mil pairs of shoes were sold, while sales fell 15% in the first half of 1998.
