Meet Aspen...

Aspen is a harlequin Great Dane.

She is genetically deaf.

Aspen joined our family in

November of 2000,

she was about 11 months.

We rescued Aspen from Burt and Tracy Ward’s Great Dane

Rescue in Norco, CA.

We communicate with her in different ways. We tell her what we want her to do with hand signs. We also show her our love with lots of hugs and an endless supply of kisses. Aspen loves to be as close to us as possible. Which means that she sits on our laps, follows us around the house, and can’t stand being put in the back yard. Her nickname is Ninny… why? You ask, well she just is one! She thinks that she is a princess. Things really ought to be done her way, you know. And like a princess she prefers to be waited on. There is no confusion in our house as to which dog is Alpha…It’s Ninny. She prefers to be the first to go in and out of a door way, often shouldering another dog out of the way. She also loves to sneak in her own stealth kisses, which inevitably hit your teeth…yuck! You have been warned.

Oh so sleepy…

This is Aspen’s impression of being stuck to the wall…

Aspen is now insisting on refering to herself in the third person and she only goes by her stage name….

The Great Nindini!

"The Great Nindini requires food! The Great Nindini needs a lap to sit on!"

She has also adjusted her appearances to accommodate her new identity….
