Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day 2007

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, is an annual event established to encourage girls to explore the possibility of pursuing a career in this male-dominated field. Caltech SWE will participate in this occasion by inviting girls in middle school to spend the day at Caltech, where they will learn first-hand that s not just for the boys!

Activities will include lab tours, faculty speakers, a role-model luncheon with female engineering students, hands-on mini-projects, and an introduction to college life. See the tentative schedule below for more details.

For more general information about Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, part of National Engineers Week, check out http://www.eweek.org/site/News/Eweek/girlsday.shtml

This year over 100 students from middle schools in the area will be attending so we are looking for volunteers to help with various activities throughout the day, such as helping with demonstrations, talking to the students during lunch and serving as runners to and from labs. If you have free time and would like to participate in Introduce a Girl to Engineering day please e-mail Suki Singh at singh43@its.
