Alumni Connections / Proposal ============================= In the past year we have come to realize the importance of connections with alumni. We think that alumni can be most effective in: (1) Sharing their knowledge and experience younger students (2) Assuring the continuity of the club and its mission We are making it a priority to get the alumni to be more actively involved in the club in 2004. We have two specific projects in mind that correspond to our vision of the alumni role in the club: (1) Bi-monthly alumni lunches. The goal is to provide an opportunity for 4-5 younger students to meet a different alumnus each time in an informal setting. We budget 6 lunches with $50 per lunch for a total of $300. (2) The club has been so far run in an informal way. We are planning to set up a board of directors that would have regular meetings and will be responsible for club oversight and continuity. Alumni will have an important role in the board. We budget 10 monthly meetings with $15 per meeting for refreshments/coffee for a total of $150. Alumni Lunches: 6 x $50 = $300 Board Meetings: 10 x $15 = $150 ----------------------------------------------- Total requested: $450 We will accept partial funding for these activities. These events will be advertized via our mailing list and the club website. We will duly acknowledge CAA sponsorship in the event funding is granted.
