ESL/Conversation Club for
Spouses of Postdocs
The goal of the ESL/Conversation Club for Spouses is to promote friendship, foster
community and to give the spouses of our postdocs a place to gather and practice
their English in a relaxed setting. Free childcare will be provided.
* The Postdoctoral Scholars/Visitors Services in Human Resources is hosting a
free weekly evening ESL conversation club for the spouses of postdocs.
* This is an opportunity for spouses to gather in the evening to socialize and
practice their English. A TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other
Languages) certified instructor from a local NAFSA (Association of International
Educators) affiliated organization will be present to provide ESL instruction and
help members to practice everyday English.
* Teachers from the Caltech Children’s Center (CCC) will provide childcare. The
childcare is FREE to participants. Due to State caregiver to child ratio
requirements, childcare will be limited to 25 children, on a first come first serve
basis.
* The club will meet every Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM beginning October 7,
2003, in the Winnett Lounge and Club Room (above the bookstore) at Caltech.
* Postdoctoral spouses will be given priority; however, the club is open to all foreign
nationals of the Caltech community.
