ME Degree Requirements

The ME department has a list of these requirements here. If you have questions Cheryl Geer is the person to talk to.

Help for Experimentalists
  • -The physical plant material has scrap metal rods, tubes, plates, and sheets along with plexi-glass and other similar items.

  • -Fastener shop [don't know what the real name is] (They have tons of screws, bolts, washers, nuts, etc). Students should go here before ordering stuff since there is a decent chance that they can get it here for much cheaper and much quicker -- especially if it is a tiny order since McMaster-Carr requires you buy stuff by the foot or in packs of 100.

  • -Glass blowing shop with Rick (if you need something made of glass see this dude)

  • -Various machine shops (we aren't stuck using the ME shop) along with their advantages:
--Physics machine shop (see Rick) is very good with small complicated parts
--Aero machine shop (see Joe) is speedy
If you have questions about this, contact Joe Klamo (jklamo@its).

A Poem for Ernie
My dear Ernie you treat us good
Your daily special is so great.
If I would not gain so much weight,
eat Ernie's every day I would!

Alas, Mondays suck.
But one man's gift can lift us.
His name is Ernie.
