Reza Motaghiannezam received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California (USC) in Fall 2004. After his graduation from USC, he joined Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) to develop several Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography (SS-OCT) systems for clinical use in cardiology and gastroenterology as a postdoctoral Scholar. In fall 2007, he joined California Institute of Technology (Caltech) to develop functional SS-OCT system for conducting study in retinal degenerative diseases. He was appointed as a Faculty Member at the rank of senior research fellow at Caltech in 2008. He holds several licensed and pending US and international patents for his inventions in swept laser source, optical coherence tomography, and fiber optics. He is also the co-author of more than 60 peer reviewed research articles in major scientific journals and conferences. He is a member of IEEE, LEOS, OSA, SPIE and EMBS.
