The single stage reflector instrument is equipped with
time-lag focusing optics, called "delayed extraction".
With this, we achieve accuracy in the low ppm range and resolution sufficient to make accurate mass assignment. Thus
far we have achieved accuracy for small peptides of better than 10
ppm with internal calibration, and resolution exceeding 20,000 FWHM on insulin (5729.6 u).
Therefore, we are able to
report monoisotopic masses for ions up to about 6 kDa. Those seeking this
level of resolution and accuracy are encouraged to work closely
with this laboratory prior to submitting samples for analysis.
