Float
By Patricia Kane
Directed by Ann K Lindsey
Five friends from the town's women's club gather to assemble a winter holiday float. Beneath their comic banter we see their struggles with family, sexuality, and betrayal. A local pastor has just been caught watching pornography in his church office, opening up a heated confrontation over notions of right and wrong and judging others. When they gather after the parade to dismantle their creation, more than the float comes apart. Yet these women, and their sustaining bonds, ultimately triumph, and we, the audience, can't help but cheer them on.
