Mission Statement OAT is an entirely student-run
organization whose purpose is to give students the opportunity to be
involved in all aspects of theater production and to produce entertainment
for the Caltech community.
About One Act Theater (OAT) was formed in 2004 by three ambitious students who wanted to create alternative opportunities at Caltech for students interested in being involved in theater. Doing entirely student-run productions allows students to be involved in every part of the theater experience, from acting to directing, producing, and running all of the technical aspects of the show. In addition, by doing multiple one act plays the idea is that more students can be involved in leading roles, and the lower time requirements allow more people to be involved. This is OAT's 5th year and we are immensely thankful for all the enthusiasm and support that has kept One Act Theatre going strong. We'll be doing it again this year, we hope you can join us for a performance!
Tickets are free, since the production was made possible by a generous gift from ASCIT, the MOSH, and Caltech Admissions. However, OAT is asking for donations so that they can produce more one act events.
Performances An Evening of One Act Theater will be performed Saturday, April 5th and Monday, April 7th at 7:00 pm. The amphitheater outside Sherman Fairchild Library will be outfitted with lights and speakers, acting as a distinctive stage. Seating will be on the grass, so bring a blanket, chair, or be prepared to sit on the grass.
Plays (more information about the plays will be posted soon) The production was made possible by Caltech Admissions, the MOSH, and ASCIT. However, OAT is asking for donations to support future performances.
Get Involved Currently were looking for help on the crew. We need help setting up and taking down stage equipment. The sound manager needs an assistant to help with performances and preparation. There may be other openings as well. Contact the producers or oat@caltech.edu for more info.
