- Grading. Homework 35%, Mid-term 25%, Final 40%.
- Homework. Usually handed out in class on Thursday, due
in class on the following Tuesday. Some credit for late homework, but there
will be cut-offs at the time the mid-term exam and the final exam
are handed out. After the mid-term is handed out, no late homework
credit will be given for homeworks from the first half of the
term. Similarly, after the final exam is handed out, no late homework
credit will be given for homeworks from the second half of the
term. However, extensions may be granted by the instructor (not
the TAs) if arranged before the homework is due.
- Homework Solution sets. Homework solution sets will
be prepared and posted on this website.
- Collaboration on Homework. Collaboration on homeworks
is encouraged. However each individual student must write out
their own solutions (for example, Xerox copies of group solutions
are not acceptable).
- Mid-term and Final exams. These will be take-home, open
notes, closed-book exams. It is therefore valuable to maintain
a complete set of notes. Notes include homeworks and homework
solution sets. Notes do not include materials or solution sets
from previous years. No collaboration is permitted. The mid-term
will have a time limit of 1.5 or 2 hours; the final will have
a time limit of 3 hours.
- Book. There is no official text book. However, if you
wish to purchase a book for reference, I recommend "Fluid Flow"
by R.H.Sabersky, A.J.Acosta, E.G.Hauptmann and E.M.Gates, published
by Prentice Hall.
