Frances Arnold received her B.S. from Princeton University and her Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. She has received the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award (1988), National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award (1989), and David and Lucile Packard Fellowship (1989). She is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Protein Society, Materials Research Society, Phi Beta Kappa, and Tau Beta Pi.
