misspellings and typographical errors
in the second printing of
of the second edition our book.
We take full responsiblity for these errors,
and we apologize
for them.
This web page identifies most all of the errors
in cross-references, mathematics,
science and engineering.
We have not listed misspellings
and typesetting errors that
the reader will recognize easily, or may not
care about.
Please mark the following changes in your
copy of the third edition or
second printing of the second edition.
Most all of these have been corrected in the second printing
of the third edition.

page 259 -- Eq. (5.128)
After Figure 6.3 is a summary of vector operations for
the [211] zone axis. The last two lines show dot products
with the [210] direction, but this should be the [211].
In Chapter 7 of third edition, first printing only, a number of references
to dynamical theory are listed as Chapter 11, whereas
dynamical theory is now in Chapter 12. The cross-referenced equations
all seem to be correct, however.

page 451 -- Eq. (8.97)
page 590 (third edition, first printing only) -- Eq. (11.16)
The prefactor should be (4/3)^{3/8}. (Both are nearly 1, however.)
The dimension label on the far right of the figure is missing
a factor of 4. It should be 4 pi/a.
The first numerator in the second line of this equation
has an upper-case Delta that should be deleted,
leaving sin^2( pi s_y a_y N_y).
The left-hand side should be:
ln < cos(2pi*l*Z_n) >
There is an extra "a" on the right-hand side. It should read "U exp(-a/xbar)"
