The W. M. Keck Engineering Laboratory, home of the Materials Science Option at Caltech,
was constructed in 1960. For 39 years this building was distinguished by bright
pink-orange formica panels that adorned its exterior surface. As you can see in the
above image, the orange panels have been painted a light tan, making the Keck Laboratory
consistent with the
color scheme of the rest of the Caltech campus. The improvement in appearance is
now complete. The result is striking.
