Philosophy
My teaching statement discusses my general approach to teaching. (pdf, html)
Experience
I have experience with a wide variety of courses, including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, and Probability and Statistics. Here is a list of my teaching experience by term. (pdf, html)
Evaluations
You can view a complete list of student comments submitted about me in Caltech's Teaching Quality Feedback Reports system. (pdf, html)
The Teaching Quality Feedback Reports also include numerical student ratings. (pdf, html)
Sample Materials
I have prepared a number of supplemental materials for my students. Here are some examples:
- A broad overview of hypothesis testing. (pdf)
- An explanation and example of (alpha, beta) specification. (pdf)
- A discussion of some of the linear algebra needed for differential equations. (pdf)
- A counterexample to the converse of the uniqueness theorem for first order ODEs. (pdf)
I have used the internet to collect anonymous student feedback, such as via this midterm evaluation form and this informal questionnaire about which material I should review.
Professional Development
I have participated in many activities of the Caltech Project for Effective Teaching, which hosts seminars and workshops on various pedagogical issues. I received a certificate in recognition of completing their Pedagogy Workshop Series.
In the future, I would like to apply to be a Project NExT Fellow.
Service
In Fall 2008, I was asked to lead a discussion about teaching with new math graduate students as a part of Caltech's TA traning program. Here is a handout I prepared for this. (pdf)
