The Lee Center sponsors workshops to bring researchers together to share information. The first Workshop on Advanced Networking was held in May 2000, at the Doubletree Hotel in Pasadena, California. It included presentations by students, professors, and invited speakers.

The second, in May 2001, was held at Caltech in conjunction with Caltech’s Center for Neuromorphic Systems Engineering (CNSE). The theme of the workshop was “Sensor Networks,” with faculty from the two centers presenting their research on smart sensors for networking. One of the highlights of the workshop was the participation of industry panelists and their presentations on how sensor networks operate in various industry sectors, including automotive, defense, and aerospace.

A workshop was held at Caltech in May, 2002, in honor of Robert McEliece’s 60th birthday. McEliece is the the Allen E. Puckett Professor and Professor of Electrical Engineering, and of course a Lee Center member. Sessions were held on coding and decoding, cryptography and sequences, Shannon theory and coding bounds.

The third Workshop on Advanced Networking was held in October 2002, back at the Doubletree Hotel in Pasadena, emphasizing student presentations in a format similar to that of the first workshop.

The fourth Workshop was held at the Pasadena Hilton on May 14, 2004 on wireless networks, optical amplifiers, data compression and delivery of information on the internet. You can view the announcement, papers and other links here.

The fifth Workshop was held at the Pasadena Westin Hotel on May 20, 2005. To view photos from this event, click here.
