I am a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech, working with Prof. Michael Elowitz.

I was a graduate student in the Physics Department at U. C. Berkeley.

I studied RNA polymerase II transcription through nucleosomes using single-molecule techniques in Prof. Carlos Bustamante's group.

As an undergraduate at Brandeis University, I worked with Prof. Jané Kondev on the theory of gene regulation. I have also spent two summers with Prof. Rob Phillips' group at Caltech doing theoretical work on DNA looping.

I grew up in Romania, where my parents still live. My younger brother, Bogdan, is doing biophysics at Harvard.

I am married to Anton, who is a software engineer at Google. We have a son named Manu.
