Our Cabin -- A Virtual Tour
The View

These pictures show two angles of the view from the deck of our cabin.
It's a spectacular view of the lake, with Papoose Bay and Boulder Bay on the
opposite shore. We believe it is one of the best views in all of Big Bear Valley.
The Hike Up

We like to call it our "built-in aerobics facility."
The trail up to the cabin is about 150 yards long, uphill. It's definitely
not for the faint of heart, but we've been doing it for years with no ill effects. (We're
not athletic.) It takes about five minutes from the car.
What's Inside

The left picture is taken from the front door, looking into the
kitchen. You can see the antique stove, the counter, and through into the living
room. The right picture is a view from near the refridgerator, looking at the counter and
the front door.

The first picture above shows the view from in front of the stove.
The living room is to the left, the dining area is in the middle, and on the right
you see the hallway leading to the bedrooms. The second shot looks into the living
room. You can see the pot-bellied stove on the right, and the door to the sun-room.
The third picture was taken from the other side of the room, looking back toward
the kitchen; you can also see the bathroom door. The pot-bellied stove puts out a
lot of heat, and keeps the place plenty warm in winter. Plus the wood pile out back
will last for a lot of winters.

The left picture shows another view looking back into the kitchen and
living room. The right picture looks into the bathroom. The shower is
especially spacious; plus you can shower in pure mountain spring water!

The first picture above shows the sun-room, looking out onto th deck.
The second picture is from the other side of the room; the door on the right is
into the living room. The third picture shows the deck, with the doors leading into
the sun-room.

The first three pictures show views of the master bedroom, with its
fireplace and its deck. The fourth picture shows the second bedroom.

The first picture above shows the backwards view from the deck.
This cabin is very private and secluded; there are no neighbors on any side but
down. The second picture shows our water tank out back. We share a mountain
spring with the neighboring cabin. The spring has been in operation for maybe 80
years without problem; the water tastes great and there's a lot of it.
Directions: The cabin is about 0.6 miles east from the dam, and about 0.4 miles west from Gray's Landing. Look on the north side of the road for a telephone pole with lots of signs on it. One of the most prominent signs says "Tufty." Pull in the driveway next to the telephone pole, drive straight in about fifty feet and park. You should see a large dead tree on the right side of your car. If there is no dead tree, go back to the main road and start over. Ahead of your car, to the left, you should see a good-sized rock perched on a tree root. This is the trail head. Follow the trail as it winds up. Red ribbons mark the way (unless someone came by and took them down).
