"Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves. All progress, therefore, depends on unreasonable people
I am currently a post-doctoral scholar in the Electrical Engineering Department at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. I grew up in Calcutta , India, a city known for its literary, artistic and political zest. I received my PhD degree from Caltech in June 2012 under Prof. Ali Hajimiri . I received graduated an Integrated B.Tech and M.Tech in Electronics and Electrical Communcation Engineering in 2007 from Indian Instirtute of Techonology, Kharagpur.

If you find my work interesting and are applying to Princeton for PhD in EE, send me an email to my current address (kaushiks at caltech dot edu). Include your CV. I am not necessarily looking for prior experience in integrated circuits. A big part of my current and future research plans lie at the intersection of several fields. So if are ambitious and motivated, have a strong fundamentals in physics and mathematics, you are likely to be a good fit. Please indicate if you have prior experiences in any research area particularly (but not limited to) circuits, optics, biosensing, signal processing, fabrication, device physics.

Research topics, which potentially have high positive impact on society and stretch the boundaries between electrical engineering and applied sciences, motivate me. I find such spaces much less explored, and equipped with tools from core disciplines, and with understanding of underlying mathematics and physics, the solutions and methods are often only limited by imagination and creativity. My research approach is to leverage the strengths of concepts and techniques across disciplines and blend them to create novel and high-performance systems with a diverse set of applications from wireless communications, biomedical sensing, imaging and radar. Currently, my intellectual focus is on these broadly defined topics
The potential of low-cost, robust integrated systems, particularly in sub-mmWave and THz spectral range, in healthcare disgnostics, quality control, security, interactive entertainment and defense is enormous. The market is generally sparse due to the lack of low-cost technology to generate power at these frequencies. I am interested in entrepreneurial opportunities stemming from my research in this field.
