In
1994, the Institute for Neural Computation at UCSD hosted the
first Joint Symposium on Neural Computation with Caltech. This
symposium brought together students and faculty for a day of
short presentations. This annual meeting now rotates between
institutions in Southern Califorina and this year will be hosted
by the University of Southern California. The Symposium is open
to the public.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS (CFP)
Submissions
are open to all members of the Neural Computation community
of Southern California. Research areas include all aspects
of cellular, network, and systems-level modeling, and applications
of neuromorphic algorithms and hardware to problems in vision,
speech motor control, cognitive function, etc. Authors are
invited to contribute abstracts, which will be reviewed by
the program committee.
The contributed program will consist of 15-minute oral presentations,
as well as a poster session. Abstracts selected for either
oral or poster presentation will be included in the final
program.
DEADLINE
FOR RECEIPT OF ABSTRACTS:
Friday,
April 14, 2000
As
in previous years, a Proceedings consisting of short papers
describing work presented at the May meeting will be published
by the INC. Contributions to the Proceedings, based on both
oral and poster presentations, are due after the meeting,
and must be submitted no later than Friday, June 2, 2000 to:
Institute for Neural Computation, University of California,
San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive DEPT 0523, La Jolla, CA 92093-0523.
Guidelines for the submissions will be distributed to the
presenters at the Symposium. As in previous years, authors
will retain copyright to their papers, so that they may be
resubmitted elsewhere.
