Prerequisites: Ph1b. Offered third term. 9 units (4-0-5)
Introductory course in special relativity and electromagnetism for freshmen, with emphasis on physical intuition in problem-solving and utilizing vector calculus techniques. No laboratory work is required.

5/30/2009. Solutions for Quiz 3, HW 7, and HW 8 are now available.
5/27/2009. Today is Ditch Day ! Adjustments to the course schedule: HW 7 and 8 are now both due on Friday May 29 at lecture. Quiz 4 is still due Monday June 1. The lectures on 5/29 and 6/3 will complete our discussion of magnetism (Purcell Chapter 11). Therefore, HW9 will be due on Friday 6/5 instead on Wednesday 6/3. The lecture on Friday 6/5 will be on Superconductivity.
5/19/2009. Extensions for Quiz 3, HW 7, and HW 8. Due to the recent tragic event on campus, some of you may need more time to complete your work this week. Quiz 3 is now due Monday May 25 (yes, Memorial day). HW 7 is now due Wednesday May 27. HW8 is now due Friday, May 29. The due dates for Quiz 4 (June 1) and HW 9 (June 3) are unchanged.
