Subject:  Microsoft Office 2003 Updates

Here are the basic instructions for installing the latest Office 2003
patches and updates.

Frequently, the updates require you to provide the original installation
media, i.e. CDROMs or installation downloads.  So, before attempting the
upgrade, you should have these materials present.


1)  Run Internet Explorer (not Netscape). 

2)  Select the menu item,

      Tools|Windows Update

    or alternatively, access the Microsoft website,

      http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
  
3)  The Microsoft Windows Update homepage will appear.  Click
    on the link to "Office Family".

4)  Click on the Office Update link, "Check for Updates".  A Security
    Warning window may appear, prompting, "Do you want to install and
    run "Microsoft Office Product Updates Detection Engine."  Click Yes,
    to continue.

5)  Select the required updates, and click on the link to start
    the installation.

6)  Some updates require additional updates.  So repeat the
    procedure until all updates are applied.
