At the May 2, 2002, BoD meeting, the BoD approved the creation of an additional officer, the Executive Director, who would have the following duties:

Executive Director: Matches tasks to people in the BoD.

When the GSC is informed of a new business, the Executive Director notifies the concerned director or committee to take action on that, or informs the BoD to ask for volunteers for that task. The Executive Director will also keep track of activities that need to be done annually (like getting people for club funding, or checking when the proposal to the SIF is due).

The Executive Director was elected in the same manner and for the same term as other GSC officers.

At the March 6, 2003, BoD meeting, the Board passed a resolution making the position permanent and updating the job description:

The Executive Director shall work with the Chair and Vice Chair to perform the day-to-day management functions of the GSC. In addition, the Executive Director shall monitor GSC Committees to ensure that they meet on a regular basis and function as set forth in the GSC’s Committee Guidelines. In the absence or disability of the Vice Chair, the Executive Director shall perform all the duties of the Vice Chair and, when so acting, shall have all the powers of, and be subject to all the restrictions upon, the Vice Chair.
