"Heat transfer in vertical granular flows"
V.V.R. Natarajan and M.L. Hunt
The effect of shearing on the convective heat transfer from a heater immersed in a vertical granular flow in a channel was investigated experimentally. Comparisons were made with previous experimental and semiempirical results. Experiments were performed with smooth and rough wail conditions in order to examine the influence of boundaries on the shear rate, medium density, arid particle agitation. The results indicated that the medium density adjacent to the wall played a critical role in determining the overall heat transfer.
