Information processing in the hippocampus

We are interested in how information is processed in the brain. In particular, how does the circuitry of the hippocampus gate or influence information flow? Information reaches the CA1 region of the hippocampus via the conventional trisynaptic loop as well as via a direct input from entorhinal cortex. We are examining how these two inputs interact and influence the output of CA1 pyramidal neurons.
