PHYSICS 2a PROBLEM SETS ARE DUE IN BY 5 PM ON WEDNESDAYS.....

COURSE SCHEDULE HAS SHIFTED BY A LECTURE !!!
This changes the homework problem sets.  See new schedule.....

Course Schedule

Textbook:
Fizz 2a: Energy, Entropy and Waves by David L. Goodstein

Recommended:    Thermodynamics by Enrico Fermi
Vibrations and Waves by A.P. French

Assignments:
Homework will be due in the Wednesday recitation.  It will be accepted up to one week late for ½ credit.  The work must be your own, not copied from others or the blackboard in recitation.  You are encouraged to work the problems with others and to seek out additional help if you find that useful but the write-up must be all yours.  You should be able to reproduce any solution you hand in without help from anyone else. Homework assignments are given in the Course Schedule above.

Quizzes:
A quiz will be due on alternate Tuesdays throughout the term (10/12, 10/26, 11/9, 11/23).
The quizzes will be available at 3 PM on the preceding Friday and can be picked up in 110 East Bridge.  The quizzes must be worked without collaboration with others.

Exams:
There will be a final exam covering the entire term.  There will be no midterm exam.

Grading:
Your grade for the course will be determined by your performance on the final exam (50%), quizzes (30%), and homework combined with your attendance and performance in recitation class and general level of effort (20%).

Ombudspeople:
Each house should select an ombudsperson.  Students should inform them of complaints about the course or make suggestions about how to improve the course.  This is the best way to transmit your views of the course to the instructors.  The Ph2 instructors will have lunch with the ombudspeople once in the middle of the term (10/26).
