I am an Agouron Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech in the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences. My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underpinning stable carbon isotope signatures of marine phytoplankton for bulk, compound-specific, and position-specific applications. It is essential to reach a coherent understanding of environmental and physiological controls on these signatures in extant organisms in order to extend interpretations to other critical intervals of geologic time.
