Bohnanza by Rio Grande Games, 2000
Personal Information
Acquired: 5 December 2001
I was looking for a light card game and had read several positive reviews
of Bohnanza. After all, who wouldn't love a game where you are a
bean farmer? The game mechanics are fairly simple and the game
relies heavily on trading cards between players. The illustrations on the
cards are reasonably entertaining and the game moves at a decent pace.
All in all, not spectacular, but nonetheless a fun game with a healthy
dash of strategy.
Description:
One of the most interesting features of this card game is that you
are not allowed to rearrange the order of your cards. Players try to score
points by planting as many identical beans as possible in the same bean field.
The beans you plant, however, are dictated by the order of the cards in your hand. The only way to modify this order is to trade away the cards you don't want
to plant.
Game mechanics are very simple and can be taught in a few mintues. The game takes an hour or a little less to play.
My Score: 7/10
