DIRECTORS LUNCHEON AND
ANNUAL MEETING
The luncheon and annual
meeting will take place in the Faculty Lounge located adjacent to the CU Center. The buffet style lunch service will
cost $15 per person, which includes food, drinks and gratuity.
I will prepare an agenda for
the meeting. Please contact me at
(949) 856-3180 or Huszti@cox.net, if you have agenda items
for the directors meeting. Music
you will perform for the festival will be collected at the meeting.
WILLIAM WEINERT MASTERCLASS
Professor Weinert will present
his masterclass addressing choral concepts through the use of selected choral repertoire. Each school is invited to send eight
students to participate in the masterclass to be held in CU Center, Room
105. A map of the CU Center will
be provided, for all of our students attending the masterclass. Music for the workshop will be distributed
at the class.
PARKING
There is ample space to park
vehicles at Concordia University.
Parking lots are identified on the enclosed maps of the campus and it is
a short walk to the CU Center. Our
suggestion is to enter Concordia using the Jeffrey/University exit off the 405
freeway. Directions from the
Culver exit off the 405 freeway makes finding Concordia a bit more
difficult.
WARM-UP/REHEARSAL ROOMS
Warm-up/rehearsal spaces will
be available at 4:00 PM. Please
ask your students to report to the CU Center when they arrive and they will be
given directions by our student hosts.
Each choir will have a UCI student host for the duration of the festival
to assist you and your singers.
Please be certain all valuables are locked into your vehicle, as we
cannot insure that the warm-up space will be secure. There is very limited changing space and we encourage your
students to arrive at the festival in performance attire.
Warm-up space and times are
assigned according to the order in which your information was received. We will attempt to assign rooms and
spaces as requested, but some choirs may need to share rooms because
unfortunately, pianos are not available in each space.
During your ten-minute warm-up
time in the CU Center, we will give you a two minute warning to finish. It might be good to have your choir
lined up five minutes prior to your time on the risers.
FESTIVAL
Please remind your students
that all choirs are expected to stay for the duration of the festival. In order that the festival proceeds
effectively, please adhere to the TEN MINUTE time allotted for each
performance.
Seating is somewhat difficult
in the CU Center, please ask your students to co-operate with their
guides. There will be virtually no
space to seat extra audience members.
There will be seven sets of
choral risers on the stage platform.
The acoustical properties of the space are excellent and a fine
recording of each ensemble will be possible. The exit doors are somewhat noisy and singers should leave
only if necessary, after a performance has taken place.
DIRECTORıS RECEPTION
We will arrange for the
adjudication sheets to be given to each director at the reception. Please invite a student representative
to accompany you to the reception for Dr. Weinert. I am certain he will wish to greet each of you following the
festival. The reception will be
held in the Faculty Lounge.
The CD recording of the
festival will be mailed to you as soon as they are available. The turn around time should be no longer
than ten days.
DINING
The Student Center at
Concordia will have limited food items available. There are several fast food establishments on Culver Drive
(see map) and in the small shopping center at Ridgeline Drive (see map).
