Supporting Dance at Caltech
The growth and success of the Caltech dance organizations and expanding class offerings are not limited by interest from the Caltech community, but by the lack of adequate dance spaces on campus. Caltech has initiated a major campaign to create a Campus Center for social, cultural, and artistic activity on campus, which would house a 400-seat music hall, a 250-seat multipurpose theater and greenroom space, a caf? with evening and weekend hours, a versatile art gallery/exhibition space, an integrated billiard/game room and student lounge, music rehearsal facilities, and various spaces for student activities.
The dance community at Caltech is working with the administration to ensure that the Multipurpose Hall can be used as a dance rehearsal and class space. As the project progresses, we will be working together to make sure that this space is equipped with appropriate flooring, a stereo system, and at least one mirrored wall, all essential components for good dance training. In order for the Caltech dance community to continue to grow and thrive, it is imperative that a new dance space be created on campus. The benefits of this space would reach beyond the dance community, enriching the broader cultural life on campus.
To donate to the creation of the campus center, please visit the development website here (http://www.one.caltech.edu/introduction/). In donating, please make it clear that you would like your donation to positively impact dance at Caltech.
Thank you!
