Participate
Dance
Traditionally, all the dance organizations on campus have submitted at
least one piece to showcase in the Dance Show. You can participate in a
club piece by contacting the coordinators of individual
organizations. Various other clubs and organizations
(e.g. Caltech C) have participated, so ask around! Clubs typically
start rehersing in the fall to early winter.
Choreograph
Pieces from individuals or groups are also welcomed! We love to get as
much variety in the show as possible, so gather up your friends and put
together a piece. In the past, the Caltech Dance Troupe
has
helped connect dancers with choreographers and other dance
organizations may be able to help you find more dancers if you need
them.
If you are choreographing your own piece, please carefully read through
all the information on this page to understand how the Dance Show is
put on and feel free to contact the organizers if you have questions.
We recommend that you start rehearsals in the fall or very early in the
winter so that you're ready to perform the whole piece by the audition.
Submitting other material
Groups can also submit pieces that utilizes work from outside sources.
This might include choreography based on a cultural or traditional
dance piece. Works
developed by outside dance organizations, like a dance studio, have
also been included with the consent of the original choreographer. As
with any piece in the dance show, We generally require that a majority
of your dancers be affiliated with Caltech. Exceptions must be cleared
with the Artistic Board.
If your submitting an entry of this sort, a person must be designated
as an representative for your group to interface with the Dance Show
Cooridnators.

Application
Please download the 2009
Dance Show application and email it to caltechdanceshow@gmail.com
before March 6, 2009. If you intend to submit multiple
pieces, please send one application per piece. Please make
sure you receive an email confirmation from the Dance Show Coordinators
to ensure that your application was properly received.
Demonstration Night
We will be having a pre-show demonstration night so that groups will have a chance to get feedback from the show coordinators and fellow dancers. We suggest that your dancers come in costume and using your final cut of music. Those groups that have previously performed in the Dance Show may not be required to attend the demonstration night, but participation is encouraged. For those who are new to the show, expect to perform your piece at the demonstration night. All groups must submit a copy of their music and a list of all dancers before the Demonstration Night so we can set the performance order for the show.
