Caltech PBP Team
Christophe Basset, a graduate student in Electrical Engineering working in the Vision Lab on VLSI integration, has been an officer of the Caltech Cycling club for the last two years and has coordinated the design and purchase of the club jerseys. He has also been a long distance cyclist for 3 years and has completed many endurance events. He is a California Triple Crown finisher and a member of the 1000-mile club for riding five one-day 200-mile events in the same year. Already qualified, he sees Paris-Brest-Paris as the highlight of his randonneur career.

Stijn Cassenaer is a third year Ph.D. student in Gilles Laurent's laboratory in the biology division at Caltech. His research concerns the interaction of associative memory and sensory representation. He was introduced to cycling in 2001. He has since participated in and completed five organized rides of 100+ miles, and two of 200 miles. He has completed all of the qualifying rides for Paris-Brest-Paris. He is also an avid runner, and was the 307th finisher (of 22,000 participants) of the 2003 Los Angeles Marathon. |

Ofer Mazor has been cycling for the last two and a half years. He has participated in numerous organized rides including six 100+ mile rides and a 200 mile ride, which he completed in 14h 45m. Prior to cycling, Ofer's main athletic interest was running and he competed in middle and long distance events for his high school varsity track and cross-country teams. When he is not cycling, Ofer spends his time as a grad student, researching neural coding in sensory systems in Gilles Laurent's laboratory at Caltech.

Pierre Moreels is currently a second year PhD student in Electrical Engineering, and works in Computer Vision under the supervision of Pr. Pietro Perona.During his studies as an undergraduate, Pierre was a member of the Ecole Polytechnique rowing team. He participated in the national French universities championships where his team placed second. He also practiced skydiving (70 jumps, B license), and swimming. He is now a member of the Caltech cycling club, and took part in more than 20 'century' events (100-miles organized ride) and 3 'double centuries' (200-milers). |
