CPET Committee
The CPET Committee is responsible for planning events throughout the year. We meet once a month and anyone is welcome to come. Check out the Events Page for information on where and when we have meetings.
CPET Certificate Program / Pedagogy Workshop Series
The objective of the Pedagogy Workshop Series is to provide graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other interested members of the community with an opportunity to learn more about effective teaching styles and different instruction techniques. Participants attend at least six CPET workshops and reflect upon the material presented through written journal entries. A certificate from the Caltech vice-provost's office acknowledges completion of the series. This certificate is a concrete way of documenting your interest in teaching.
Individuals are free to choose from a variety of workshops to fulfill the requirements for this certificate, and the workshops should not be considered a formal course of study but rather an exchange of ideas between an experienced instructor presenting the workshop and a group of active participants.
You can choose to fill out a journal entry for any CPET event, provided you got something useful out of it. You can choose which workshops to attend and are not required to attend all the workshops. Since six journal entries are needed you may not be able to complete the program within a year. You can start completing journal entries at any time.

You are encouraged to complete each journal entry as soon as possible after a workshop. Journal entries can be sent by email to cpet@caltech.edu one at a time, or after the completion of all six. Entries received will be acknowledged by email. To send hard copies instead, please contact cpet@caltech.edu for a mailing address.
