Losing your card doesn't mean losing the funds on your card.
You can suspend activity on your lost or stolen card by contacting
Card Services between 9 a.m. and 1.p.m. at 626-395-6169
or cardoffice@caltech.edu.
You can also suspend
activity on your card at any time online and make
an online
request for lost card replacement. Be sure to report a lost or stolen
card immediately to prevent unauthorized use, as the cardholder is liable
for any charges made against the card prior to it being reported missing.
Lost/Stolen
or Unauthorized Card Usage
- Lost
or stolen cards must be reported immediately to Card Services during
business hours, to Caltech Security at security.dispatch@caltech.edu,
or online at www.caltechcard.com
any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- The
University maintains liability for the first $50 worth of charges
made against a stolen/lost card. The Cardholder is liable
for any and all transaction made thereafter, before the Card is
reported lost or stolen. The Card is suspended once reported missing
and Cardholder is free of liability thereafter.
- The
fee for the replacement of lost or stolen cards is $15.00.
The fee for
the replacement of damaged cards is $5.00 provided that the damaged card is
surrendered upon replacement. A Card shall be considered damaged when, in
the reasonable opinion of Card Services, the Card is no longer useable for
its intended purpose (i.e. it cannot be read by card readers or the picture
has been damaged). The fee for the replacement of a card that has expired or
for which there has been a change of status is $5.00 provided that the old
card is surrendered in exchange. If for any reason the damaged or expired
card cannot be surrendered, the card will be considered lost and a $15.00
charge will be assessed. - A
police report does not waive the charge of $15.00 when replacing
a stolen card.
Reactivating
or Replacing Lost Cards
To reactivate a recovered
card, contact Card Services via either of the methods above.
Only Card Services may reactivate a card once it is reported
lost or stolen; cards may not be reactivated online.
To obtain a new ID card, contact Card Services. Your first ID card is free, but a replacement fee of $15.00 will be assessed for lost cards. If your card is broken, contact Card Services to get a new one printed. There is a $5.00 replacement fee for broken cards.
