ball.gif (1653 bytes) Why my email to caltechc@its.caltech.edu can't go through? (answerred by Ying Huang)

Sometime ago, Yue sent an email to Roger at cco, complaining about these junk emails sent to caltechc account. So Roger added some options to our caltechc account, which enforced only subscribed people to have emails go through caltechc. But the side effect is the from field of your email to caltechc has be exactly the same as listed in Majordomo record. For example, my email account listed there was huang@cco, when I was sending out a mail from Ying Huang <huang@cco.caltech.edu>, it wouldn't go through. I reported this to Roger, and he changed all of the accounts to the full name. But still some people are using an account with minor difference from when they signed up to caltechc, so their email sent to caltechc would be bounced back to chinese@cco. Right now, I'm just forwarding all the emails stuck there which I don't think are junk mails to caltechc.

So, if your email can't go through, please check out the email address you are using. Maybe another one will work. Or you can send email to the committee members and we can forward it to Caltech C for you.

I suggest that we be careful to send emails
to C from the email address that we registered.  Here are some tips:

1. To check which address you registered, send an email to
majordomo@its.caltech.edu, and write "who caltechc" in the message
body.  Then find your address from the replied list.

2. To delete your address, send an email from the original address to
majordomo@its.caltech.edu, and write "unsubscribe caltechc
your_email@old_address".

3. To add an address to the list, send an email from the new address to
majordomo@its.caltech.edu, and write "subscribe caltechc
your_email@new_address" or simply "subscribe caltechc".

4. To switch your addresses, do 3 and 4.

Any further questions please send an email to majordomo@its.caltech.edu
(or me), and write "help" in the message body.  You will get the
